Summary

This study was entitled (agricultural development in the wades of Bani- Waleed / Libya. A Study in Economic Geography) in five chapters. The first chapter discusses the natural data geographical location of the region of study and its impact on agricultural production, and since the region of study is classified climatically within the dry sub-regions of the climatic point of view, then, the agricultural development will faces a lot of difficulties, but there are natural factors that offset each other the existence of groundwater, for example, make up for the lack of rain water quantity, also the first chapter gave details about the climatic factors such as temperature, wind, solar radiation and their impact on the quality and quantity of agricultural production in the region, and it also interested studying soil and different types of altered places of presence and depth of its sector and mechanical texture and its ability to retain water and the impact of all those factors in agricultural production, the chapter ends with explanation of the positive impact of natural vegetation to agriculture, both plant and animal production.

The second chapter highlighted on the most important human factors affecting the agricultural production, this chapter studied the population in terms of growth, distribution, densities and different compositions, and the definition of the labor force in agriculture and how the reduction of agricultural labor can affect the agricultural production, noting as well as agricultural holding and the multiplicity of types, also we study the transport routes and its impact in farmers access to agricultural holdings in agricultural products marketing and the difficulties of dirt farm roads process, especially during rainfall, explaining the role of the bridges and their importance in linking roads, also this chapter describing the difficulties facing agricultural marketing, and the impact of agricultural mechanization in agriculture because they provide time and effort and accuracy in work, as well as taking the role of fertilizers and pesticides to increase agricultural production in the region, this chapter concluding the study followed irrigation systems in the region with surrounding features of each method has its drawbacks.

Chapter three is considered as specialized study of agriculture production, both plant and animal, the study began with the plant production, we began with the trees which is suitable for climate region and needs of growth in general, the olive tree was the most important tree in this study, as part of fruit trees as well as dealt with the study of palm trees and vines and almond trees, as well as pomegranate trees, limes.

To track the plant production in the valleys of Bani-Waleed, the grain crops and its importance must be studied as a food for the population of the region and as a dry feed for grazing animals, while we focused on the study of crop alfalfa and oats which are considered as the most important forage crops grown in the study area as fodder crops, and concluded the study of plant production with irrigated crops seasonal (cantaloupe and watermelon). The second part of the third chapter studied animals production as sheep which is more than 97% of the total animals in the valleys of Bani-Waleed, in addition to cows, camels and animals used in work, the chapter concluded with study of poultry and honey bees noting ranching and

caring problems.

Chapter four explains the most important barriers to agricultural production in the region, beginning by natural factors such as climate and soil, explaining ways to treat low soil productivity and how to protect it from and major problems for the agriculture of the soil in the valleys of Bani-Waleed, also we focused on the problem of irrigation and reduced water production per hectare of cultivated area, also we took in our account the problems of ownership of agricultural holding, pointing out the ways in which they can address those barriers, while livestock obstacles are multiple types of grazing animals, also the problem of poultry impediments to follow the traditional methods of wards processing , which reflected negatively on the bird's health, quantity, and quality of production, this chapter concluded with examining beekeeping problems in the region.

Chapter five pointed to the future of agricultural development in the region and pointed out that it can be achieved only by maintaining the current agricultural area and increase horizontal and vertical expansion of agriculture and explained the most important means to achieve agricultural development in the region, focused on the rationalization of irrigation and good use of groundwater and soil characteristics and quality of crops, as well as the study of agricultural industrialization existing and proposed, where he was studying woolen industries complex detailed study as well as the reference was made to feed the region's factory, a factory follows the private sector, while the environmental industry has received extensive study, although most of them made in order to preserve the heritage from generation to generation, not the importance of the product, Finally Chapter tail studying the possibility of other agricultural industries that will raise the level of production and reduce farmers' losses and provide a number of

jobs.
